Great for your soil, great for your deer, and great for establishing a first time food plot.
Overhaul is a unique food plot mix comprised of buckwheat, spring triticale, crimson clover, balansa clover, and tillage radish that can be planted in the spring or fall. It is designed not only to attract deer, but also to deliver significant soil improvement benefits.
Because of its ease of use and dual purpose design, Overhaul is a great option for establishing a first time food plot location or as a rotational crop to help boost soil health between plantings. Overhaul can grow in adverse soil conditions and works to suppress weeds, break up compaction, fixate nitrogen, increase water infiltration, enrich and “fertilize” the soil by mining potassium and phosphorus, and stimulate increased microbial activity for future plots.
Overhaul is not designed to completely replace the need for lime or fertilizer. We suggest using the recommended fertilizer rate based on the Domain plot you plan to plant after “overhauling” your soil. Your soil test will help determine the appropriate amount of lime needed to amend your soil.
While we recommend 200–300 lbs of fertilizer per acre on Overhaul to maximize growth and forage production for deer consumption, it can be planted with little to no fertilizer if your primary goal is nutrient mining and improving the soil environment.
