Behind the Name:
Harriet Chalmers Adams (1875 –1937) was a renowned American Adventurer. She traveled over a hundred thousand miles, wrote and photographed her adventures and captivated audiences all over the world for publications like the National Geographic, the NY Times and Harpers.
Harriet also worked as a war correspondent during WWI – and was the only female journalist permitted to visit the trenches. She traveled as a fearless trailblazer – but she also helped launch the Society of Woman Geographers in 1925 to help pave the way for other females in the industry.
