This limited-edition collection is handcrafted from authentic U.S. Marine Corps women’s summer uniforms—green-and-white pinstriped sets originally introduced in 1952. These uniforms were more than functional—they were a symbol of pride, presence, and progress for the Women Marines.

What makes them even more remarkable? They were designed by Mainbocher, a legendary American couturier whose clients included royalty, Hollywood stars, and First Ladies. Known for his timeless elegance and impeccable tailoring, Mainbocher was one of the few high-fashion designers to lend his talent to military service, creating uniforms for the WAVES and the Women Marines that blended sophistication with strength.

Made from lightweight Dacron and nylon with distinctive green piping and brass insignia, these uniforms brought style and respect to a new generation of women in uniform—those who served stateside, took on non-traditional roles, and helped shape the modern Marine Corps.

Each bag in this collection carries forward that legacy—reclaimed, repurposed, and respectfully remade by our team.

Behind The Name

The Dot is named for Dorothy Braden who was a high school physics and french teacher until she heard that the Army was looking for college-educated southern teachers. The details of the position were vague and the strange interview was held in a random hotel room, but according to her she was "up for anything at that point." 

In just a few weeks, Dot learned Japanese and became an expert cryptographer. She even knew that the Japanese had surrendered before President Truman did. This job was very hush-hush, so Dot and her coworkers were threatened with espionage punishable by life in prison. 

In 2017, after the NSA declassified everything, Dot was eventually convinced to tell her amazing story which can now be enjoyed for generations to come.
